Blue Eyed Grass

Blue Eyed Grass is a small and dainty wildflower. A member of the Iris family, it grows from four to twelve inches in height, the leaves are grass like and the beauty of it is sure to steal your heart when you first see it. There is a small clump growing on the bank by the driveway. The first time I have ever seen it so the birds must have brought it in or maybe all the dampness this spring has brought it out of years of dormancy. I only hope to be able to save some of the seed to have more of it next year.

  1. I actually love certain weeds and wildflowers and enjoy watching their small, dainty beauty. This looks familiar, but can't say for sure it's the exact kind that grows here, but even the blades look familiar.

I read somewhere that a weed is actually a flower that hasn't been named yet.
