February's 'extra day' gave us wind, rain, and about four tornado watch/warnings. There was such a downpour that at one time the front field looked like a river was flowing through it. Mother Nature did relent and withdrew the rain and left behind a humid seventy degree temperature this afternoon. I like the thought of an 'extra day' versus 'leap year'.

An empty pod of Honeyvine Milkweed. The Fairy like seeds all blown away to bloom in another field this year. This plant is recommended by beekeepers as a source of pollen for honey production. And of course it is a favorite of the Monarch butterfly as well. It does spread easily and can become a noxious weed if not controlled.

To Angel, the Granddoggie that has lived with and loved us for many years. She had heart surgery as a puppy and came to live and share in our lives when her original family moved back to California. She was devoted to my son and I think she really enjoyed living in the country as these pictures indicate. We will miss her greatly.

I am just enthralled by them at the moment. This is the first one I did with a new app "Tiny Planets" on the phone. I will get better at doing the shots. This one was taken at dusk yesterday and even though it is somewhat blurred I still like it. I am posting a different one here that I did using a photo from the camera. If you would like to see some fabulous tiny planets done using photoshop go here.

I can remember from my childhood the chicks and all the 'cheeps and peeps' they made and right now when every gardener is drooling over seed catalogs I am thinking once again of having a few chickens.
