Dandelion Fritters

Off With Their Heads.....

Most Important !!!!!!
Do Not Gather Any Flower Heads That Have
Been Treated With Any Chemicals.......
Start small...gather two cups of Dandelion flower heads...

Prepare The Batter

1/2 cup Biscuit Flour
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup milk

***Please note...I did not have Biscuit Flour in my cabinet today
so I used this wonderful Seasoned Flour

Heat about 1/2 inch of cooking oil in a skillet over medium+ heat ...
I am using a small skillet..the oil is ready when a small amount of batter dropped
into it sizzles..

Dip flower heads into batter and drop head first into hot oil
Cook until golden brown and turn with tongs to fry bottom side.
Drain well on paper towel.

They are delicious!  Good hot or cold. If using the Seasoned Flour
try them with Ranch Dressing....yummy!!

The original recipe and other great wild recipes are in this book.
Available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

  1. This is the most amazing post I have ever seen you do. Love it. None of my dandys have been treated soon but they will be in a few days probably. Gotta go get me some.

  2. Oh boy! I'm going to try this. I'm an organic gardener right down to the grass (one reason I have dandies to begin with, I guess) so I think I'm safe! I might try it with corn starch or chickpea flour since I can't eat wheat... I don't often do fritters so I'll investigate gf alternatives. Yum, can't wait!

  3. Well this is new to me. I will have to try it. Had squash flowers, Hummmm yvonne
