The Wild Rose

Or Multi Flora Rose was brought to the United Staes from Asia as an ornamental rose in the 1860's. It is a multi-stemmed and thorny plant that can attain heights of fifteen feet. It can also grow into dense thickets and in the mid 1900's was planted as a living fence to contain livestock. Evidently it still thinks it's a fence and sprouts up in the fencing around the property here. Even with it's awful thorns, it still possesses a beauty all it's own.

  1. Beautiful indeed. I bet with stickers it does make a good blockade.

  2. Beautiful because of, or in spite of, the thorns. Tis a thorny question...
