Drawing from the Ink Cap

...... an inedible mushroom...probably
growing off the roots of a deceased tree...

two days later... shooting skyward...
between 8 1/2 and 9 inches in height

the ink in the cap....in other times the caps were
boiled with water to make a 'drawing ink'

needing a writing instrument...this small found
feather will do...

the final results...the ink cap itself will be gone tomorrow.

Frost Patches

The arrival of the sun this morning displayed patches of light
frost scattered across the yard and fields. The warm days and
cool nights have given a boost to my energy and working outside
is more pleasure than work.

Horse Nettle

This plant is native to the United States. I think these star shaped flowers are beautiful. If you take a look in the lower right corner you will see the 'prickles' . Take it from a gal that grew up barefoot stepping on one of these plants is not a fun thing to happen. Small, juicy, yellow/orange fruits will remind you of cherry tomatoes although I have never eaten them. You would not want this plant growing in a field where animals were grazing.
