Eyes on the Skies..

It seems I am doing a lot of 'looking up' lately. This winter has been a true winter, cold and long staying. Most of us would say it has 'over stayed it's welcome'. Watching the sun rise can restore your hope in many things.

Sky Portal

I always love seeing these 'openings' in the clouds' and as I have read science fiction/fantasy/stories I love the idea of portals to other worlds, times and people. This one seemed to have the 'silver lining' . I also looked at this and thought of Vincent VanGogh

Painted Sky

It looked as though a very large paint brush was being used to dapple the sky this afternoon.
 A beautiful day.

Winter Excitement...

...can be as close as your driveway. You can slide and 'fishtail' up and down the hill.

The real 'thrill' happens when you think you may slide off the culvert and into the creek. Of course the  fun and thrill is intensified when you don't have a four wheel drive vehicle.

Winter Surprise

Snow flurries today and have not seen any of the sunshine that I'm sure was in the forecast. We've had ice..snow...ice...snow and in some places I don't even break through the crust of ice where I am walking.

A closer look at some of that ice. A surprise today..a squirrel...I thought they would be hibernating through all this but no...it is scampering across the snow and I thought it was headed for the bird feeders and some seed but it went to the crab apple tree...who knows maybe it has stashed some nuts under there. I think I'll go draw ...paint... and think 'sunshine'.

One Winter Woe

Is the damage to trees...I love my trees and it is distressing to see them in their suffering and they must be suffering....
Every needle and branch ice coated.

Branches broken that have not pulled loose
from the trunk and branches that have already
fallen.

Branches pulled to the ground with the weight
of ice and snow.

I wonder how many will survive and what will
be left of them. Many have suffered losses
in previous winters.

Snow Trails

Snow trails left by bunnies definitely need to be explored...

and goodness ...they are all over the place.
