What If....

a musical production was to be made of your life ?
What songs would be sung ?

In some areas, rural and city there are people that have a concrete goose or geese that they dress for Holidays and some people dress their goose every day.

Meet Lucy.
She has been standing guard here for going on twenty years. Most of those years she just wore her concrete. But recently some of her 'attire' was rediscovered and she wanted to be dressed for Halloween.

Lucy has performed her duty in spite of several mishaps. Such as a broken neck delivered by some construction folks while working on the porch. A quick fix with some silicone has kept her head on and  her on the job for the past ten years and it has not impaired her job performance.

She also has some 'bill problems' after an encounter with the Green Pony.  Unfortunately the bill tip was not found.

Through it all Lucy has kept her post as guard and greeter. I think she looks just fabulous in her new (old) clothes.

Rib of Sky

It has been a beautiful cool day. A ride on the Green Pony took the tips off the grass and chopped a lot of leaves that will be the fertilizer for next year's lawn. We were treated to this spectacular sky at late afternoon's walk.  I wish I had taken a picture of this stretching off to the east as well, for it was as far as you could see.

Tea Day

Rain and a high of 54 degrees for today.

The little duck is actually a rain gauge that I have consistently used as a small vase to hold weeds and a flower or two. She resides in the kitchen window over  the sink and it seems that she is gazing out the window today and wishing she could go puddle jump.

My favorite tea cup/mug/pot. Given to me by a dear friend and once sister in law by marriage. It holds ten or so ounces and with a lid the tea can be steeped right in the cup. The saucer can do double duty as a dessert plate!!  The place mat is also a favorite, from the Dollar General Store a few years back and I love every bit of the art on it.

Every Friday I visit the blogs of the people that participate in Friday My Town Shoot Out. A challenge and lots of interesting photos every Friday. Many times I have thought about joining them. Today's challenge was clouds so, on our walk late this afternoon I decided to take a few shots and post just for the fun of it. Who knows, maybe I'll get linked up and start taking the Friday challenge.

A Wet Walk...

A mist of rain has fallen throughout most of the day and while it makes for a sloppy walk, it does wonders for the beauty of plants. Even after 6 p.m. some decent photos can be had.
The tulip poplar started it's color change today. This one tree will
throw down lots of leaves for the Green Pony  to mow and we do
mow, I don't rake anymore.

A field of corn stubble. The beautiful reds and golds of the wicked
poison oak. Droplets of rain caressing the purple/magenta color on
a head of johnson grass.

And some non-weeds are still performing. They are treated as
weeds here and must fend for themselves. The rain has given a
just waxed sheen to the leaves of a canna and the cannas do have
some emerging flower heads. Lots of rain kisses for the daisy.

Mowing The Leaves

Not much color change in the leaves here. This
wild cherry tree is exhibiting some yellow and
red. The hackberry trees are throwing down leaves
that are just a blah brown. The Green Pony and I
are still doing our 'green meditation' circuit  and even
that is tapering off. Today's ride is as much about
mowing the leaves as it is cutting the grass.

Bright Blue Days...

The words my Dad used to describe a beautiful
October day like today. Not a cloud in sight
and not one vapor trail to be seen in mid afternoon.
Just to sit and look at all this beautiful blue was a

A new resident on the porch. A little tree frog, barely
bigger than a quarter. He is living in a pot of caladiums.
And yes, that is a bit of Sedum in the pot as well.

I disturbed him today...doesn't he look like he was just awakened.
A bit grumpy, maybe.

Go away his look said to me and he hopped out of the pot.
I hope he is back safe at home tonight.
